Artist in Residence Program- Whiskeytown National Recreation Area

National Park Service
The National Park Service at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in Northern California is hosting its twelfth year of an Artist in Residence program. Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is 3  hours north of San Francisco just outside of Redding, California.
The National Parks Artist-in Residence Program at Whiskeytown National Recreational Area offers established visual artists the opportunity to pursue their particular art form while being surrounded by the inspiring landscape of the park. The park provides a rustic cabin for participants for up to a three week residence. This residency focuses on landscape painting of Plein Air, impressionist and abstract styles.

In exchange for the residency, we ask the artist to donate one painting of Whiskeytown that was produced during their stay.

The selection process:  Emma Acker, the Assistant Curator for American Art at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, will juror this year’s submission. The deadline for entry is February 27, 2015. Selected artists will be notified by park staff at the end of March, 2015.  Selection is based on artistic merit, the statement of intent, and appropriateness to a National Park residency.
